Ingredients
Scale
For the fried pickle chips:
- Vegetable oil or peanut oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 16 ounces dill pickle chips, drained and dried on paper towels
For the comeback sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat 1 inch of oil in a cast iron pot until the oil reaches a temperature of 375 degrees F.
- In a pie plate, whisk together the flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the hot sauce and water, mixing until the coating is smooth.
- Line a plate with paper towels.
- Working in batches, dredge the dill pickle chips in the batter, tossing gently to coat. Carefully drop each coated chip into the oil. Using a slotted spoon, remove pickles from the oil once they have turned golden, about 2 minutes. Transfer the fried pickle chips to the prepared paper towel-lined plate. Monitor the oil temperature throughout the frying process.
- To make the comeback sauce, mix all ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
